The Foundations was the first to record it on their "Digging The Foundations" Lp in 1968 the song was rewritten for "The Fortunes" and was the follow up to Rainy Day Feeling, then it was recorded by Picketty Witch.

And the Lyrics were completely different in The Fortunes and Pickettywitch versions. Song was written my Tony Macaulay and John Macleod. As was most of the later Foundations songs. Tony claims that The Foundations hated him because they had very little creative rights to the songs. I wonder if they wrote two versions of "It's That Same Old Feeling"

Foundations did the original, with covers by the Fortunes & Pickettywitch that competed head-to-head in spring 1970. Both failed to crack the Billboard top-40.
