This rendition of Age of Aquarius & Let the Sunshine In is so well done and is a great homage to the original.Man, I can clearly remember hearing this song by the 5th Dimension while growing up in the late 60's and early 70's while our family was stationed overseas in West Germany. I remember that we had this very progressive civilian music teacher from Nebraska on our base and she exposed our music class to this song and so many other great bands like Three Dog Night, Jefferson Airplane, etc.  Although I didn't know it then (being just a kid), but so many of these songs were anti-establishment.Looking back, the 60's and 70's was a tough time for our country due to the controversy of our involvement in Vietnam, the Cold War as well as the racial tensions (which unfortunately continue even now) which I really didn't understand at my young age.This music also brings back other memories.  I can remember some of our troops (many were rotated from Vietnam over to West Germany as their next posting) that shared some of the terrible things they went through over in Vietnam.  I remember that some of them just wanted someone to just listen to them, even though I really didn't understand what they had recently gone through. I wish I could hug those soldiers now.Anyway, this reflective music from SOA reminds me of that time of my life and how it was a  critical time it was in our country's history. The producers, directors, etc. did a really fantastic job in carefully selecting (original and covers) music for SOA which, along with the great writing and acting, made it such a great series.
