Easily our most popular ever song. It came #20 in the JJJ Hottest 100 which led us to believe that our A&R man had spent a lot of weekends sending in votes from his home computer. There's an irony there as it was he who originally told us that the song didn't flow and had childish lyrics after we'd test recorded both it and I Love The Fight Game as potential singles. Many people were blinded by the song's somewhat cheery veneer and missed the misanthropic subtext but no matter; THEY LIKED IT! For years subsequently we were more likely to be recognised as, 'that band who did the dog song', than The Fauves and it was always difficult registering the disappointment on people's faces who came to gigs on the strength of one number and realised they hated the rest of our stuff.
