When Roxy Music called it a day after the brilliant Avalon album Bryan Ferry went on to release the stylistically similar but nowhere near as inspired Boys and Girls, followed by Bête Noir and some others.
At around the same time as the Boys and Girls album Phil Manzanera and Andy MacKay teamed up with singer James Wraith and released four singles and an album as The Explorers. In an interview where they said they didnt want to sound like Roxy Music with a different singer. Almost inevitably, they didnt entirely succeed. Their natural fanbase was always going to be ex-Roxy fans.

One day in 1988 (or 1989) I was driving to work and heard a song that the lyrics "fire and ice, Lorelei" in it. They never said who it was & I never heard it again, until now. I have searched every couple of years to no avail. I have put the words "fire & ice Lorelei" into Google and NEVER received anything close to being a match. I cannot BELIEVE this was Roxy Music. I LOVED Roxy Music in the 80s. How did I miss this. Literally I haven't heard this song for 24 years until just now. Thank you!13 years ago
