The Exciters were Brenda Reid, Herbert Rooney, Carol Johnson and Lillian Walker. In late 1962/early 1963 they scored a monster hit with the Bert Berns tune, Tell Him (first recorded by Johnny Thunder under the name Gil Hamilton on Capitol). They would chart on the hot 100 a total of six times under three different labels between 1963 and 1966. This record was their 15th release as a group, after a couple of non-charting singles for Shout records they found themselves signed to RCA Victor for two singles and this was the first of them. They continued recording through 1975 and hit the UK charts that year one last time before splitting up. Brenda Reid re-formed the Exciters in 1989 for another release. Group member Carol Johnson passed away in 2007.
