@zarthered i really recommend voice of the grave. it is made up of two accounts of the troubles one by leading ira volunteer brendan hughes and the other a uda man. it really is a great book and gives a great insite into the minds of both men

@zarthered Fairly broad topic. FSL Lyons has a few good ones. If you're interested in Northern Ireland and the conflict, Voices from the Grave by Ed Moloney tries to be neutral. Ancient history, try Discovering Ancient Ireland by Kelli Malone, if you can find it. The last is nearly impossible to find within Ireland, much less in the states because it's pretty much a textbook written for her classes, but it's informative and she makes it easy for a non-archeologist to understand.

I'm looking for a good history book on Ireland, old and modern. But, i'd rather get one that was written by an Irishmen/Irishwoman. And, needless to say, in America it's hard to find books that aren't Canonized horse shit. Any recommendations?
