People forget that everybody has culture, not just the underdogs. the rich must help the poor, not because they are any different but because they are the same.

You're deranged. What have your rants got to do with the song?

Yes, you're right, it's English. The Dubliners sang a lot of English songs (that's fine, no problem with that) that the ignorant now assume are Irish or Celtic (whatever "Celtic" supposed to be). The problem isn't with Irish people singing English songs (that's always happened, in both directions), but some of the above mentioned ignorant who go on to use them to claim the superioity of the Irish tradition in a narrow nationalistic way. The irony is palpable.

to nilbop my son feels same about me probly spent most of his youth in jail but was for them being a father carries a lot of responsibilities and sometimes we do the wrong things for the right reasons lot of people don't understand that maybe that's why I love this song
