From The Soft Parade Remastered

Lyrics:

Poor Otis dead and gone

Left me here to sing his song

Pretty little girl with the red dress on

Poor Otis dead and gone

Back down, turn around slowly

Try it again, remembering when

It was easy, try it again

Much to easy, remembering when

All right, look at my shoes

Not quite the walkin' blues

Don't fight, too much to lose

Can't fight the runnin' blues

Well, I've got the runnin' blues

Runnin' away, back to L.A.

Got to find the dock on the bay

Maybe find it back in L.A.

Runnin' scared

Runnin' blue

Goin' so fast

What'll I do

Well, I've got the runnin' blues

Runnin' away, back to L.A.

Got to find the dock on the bay

Maybe find it back in L.A.

All right, look at my shoes

Not quite the walkin' blues

Don't fight, too much to lose

Can't fight the runnin' blues

All right, look at my shoes

Not quite the walkin' blues

Don't fight, too much to lose

Can't fight the runnin' blues

Love it. For me, the Doors is one of those bands that haven't aged all that well. Used to really like them a lot. Still good, just seldom listen to them. For some reason this song came in my head and I googled it. Still sounds great. Think I'll give it another listen.

One day I sat down and listened to all of The Doors' original albums from the debut thru L.A. Woman. Every single song. Some of the songs I liked so good that I listened to them twice. This was one of those songs.

On this day in 1969 {August 31st} "Runnin' Blue" by the Doors entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #89; eventually it peaked at #64 {for 1 week} and spent 6 weeks on the Top 100...Was track two of side two on the band's fourth studio album, 'The Soft Parade', and the album reached #6 on Billboard's Top Pop Albums chart...Three others tracks from the album made the Top 100 chart; "Touch Me" {#3}, "Wishful Sinful" {#44}, and "Tell All the People" {#57}...R.I.P. Ray Manzarek {1939 - 2013} and to 'The Lizard King' {1943 - 1971}...

Every band has one album that's so underrated and this is the doors' in my opinion. Took a SHIT long time to record to, thanks to Morrison's drinking. I like the horn section, which ironically, is why everyone hates it.
