This is one of the most intensely melancholy albums of recent times. It nails this very isolated, downbeat kind of sound. It was promoted with little fanfare and was created in an acrimonious situation by the players. The line-up of the Dears changed forever after this record. Listening to Missiles, you cannot help but feel alone, like this music was intended for when you feel alone. This album will be re-appraised as a masterpiece eventually. I was fortunate enough to actually see them tour the record as well.
