It's weird seeing them like this. If, hypothetically, this exact performance was current, I'd be laughing my ass off. Face paint, goofy clothes, wacky hair, bad singing? I'd dismiss them as some stupid hipster band trying to be deep but are actually just silly. That's how this vid comes across. It's hard to believe this is The Cult, one of the best bands that ever was. They look awkward and uncomfortable and this performance is just weak, which is too bad because Spiritwalker is a great song too! Saw them maybe ten years ago and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen by far.

This is in UK music programme the Tube broadcast live from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne on Friday tea-times', not the Jools Holland show - though Jools Holland was a presenter on the Tube.

Think Ian forgot the words still awesome though.

Early Cult is excellent but it's like neither Billy or Ian know the song here! The version on Live at The Lyceum kills this.

This isn't Jools Holland Show. It's from 'The Tube' which aired on UK's Channel 4, with Jools & Paula Yates, Bob Geldofs ex, presenting.

Who do think would win, in a Limey American Indian dance-off, Ian Astbury or Adam Ant? Lol.

Great guitar work by Duffy.ian astbury could really sing strongly live back then and i think that was one of there best line ups. great musicians and Nigel Preston on drums rip.he would be happy with his nights work back then.
