Charted at #45 on Billboard Hot 100 in June 1956. One of my favorite Crew Cuts records. This song also charted at #52 for Gale Storm during the same month, and later for Elvis Presley at #33 in November 1965 (#15 UK). Original Billboard review: "The boys blend with warm, appealing harmony on the attractive ballad, which is actually a cover of Marie Knight's original waxing on Mercury's subsidiary label, Wing. Gale Storm has a strong version, but this one will give her plenty of competition for spins." This Crew Cuts record was also on the Mercury label. Written by Titus Turner. B-side is "Rebel in Town".

Little effort was required, you didn't have to search your collection. It would have been extremely easy for you to enter "Elvis" and "Tell Me Why" in the search engine here on YouTube to listen to the recording to doublecheck your facts. My main contention was how you confidently and brazenly declared my information to be "bogus". If I was you, and I was going to post a possible correction in such a patronizing tone as you did, I'd make darn sure I had my facts straight first.13 years ago

No, Tom, I did not "bother" to research the tune before posting my comment and I also didn't look at my 1965 collection (I have every song to ever make the hit parade between 1929 and 1965) because it was just too much effort. Did you bother doing any research before commenting? Sadly, your info. is bogus, not mine. All you have to do is search for Elvis and his 1965 recording of "Tell Me Why" here on YouTube and you will hear it's the same song. I am perfectly aware that the Eddie Fisher and Four Aces "Tell Me Why" is a different song and that's why I didn't mention it in the description.13 years ago

@Isrek1 Yes, this is my favorite version of this song, it's got the perfect 1950's sound to it. Definitely the Crew Cuts at their best, and the arrangement can't be beat. I have quite a few Henry Burr recordings posted. His version of "Are You Lonesome Tonight" is possibly my favorite Burr recording too, although he had so many great ones.13 years ago

It does not get better than this. What harmony. What a beautiful beat. I had not heard this one before. Just fantastic. By the way, @CatsPjamas1, I was not aware that you had Henry Burr numbers on your channel.
