I love that they played everything faster in concert. This song is tough because Mick hardly gets any time to breathe. There has to be vocal support from the others on the "Monday, Tuesday ..." section, because he's just sang the verse and has had no chance to take a breath. It would not surprise me if the Clash took stimulants (amphetamines, cocaine, etc.) before their shows, because their material is exhausting to play! Skinny little Topper Headon is a fucking POWERHOUSE drummer! Using "uppers" to put on a better show is a tradition that dates back to the Beatles in their pre-fame Hamburg era. I'm not recommending it -- better not to be in a band at all, than to get hooked on cocaine! Or heroin, as poor Topper found out. Anyway, the Clash still rule! Joe Strummer was a visionary, but I am definitely a Mick Jones man. Mick was the fine craftsman that brought a touch of beauty to their hard-edged music.
