The Chimes were a successful dance music trio from Scotland, featuring vocalist Pauline Henry, with Mike Peden and James Locke. Their 1989 debut single "1-2-3" was produced by Jazzie B & Nellee Hooper (of Soul II Soul). The b-side, "Underestimate" was produced by The Chimes, but features SIIS contributors: 'The Funky Ginger' Simon Law (piano) and Mykaell S. Riley with Reggae Philharmonic Orchestra (strings). Percussion legend - Luis Jardim - underpins the groove, which is based around a cheeky sample of Edwin Starr's 1973 "Easin' In". UK Producer & DJ, Frankie Foncett remixed both the album version & this 12in 'Extended Version'. The original version was so dull CBS/Sony Music have never released it publicly.
