This version predated Hendrix's version by about a year, so simmer down kiddies calling it a "cover"

The tempo gives it a sense of urgency.

Phony CIA-created band. Really, do some research on it.

When Jimi played it, he owned it :-)

+347coach its funny you say that considering the Byrds were pretty much the ones to popularize it by playing it live, and the Leaves (who recorded it first) heard them play it live, then they recorded it

i love this version, 12 string, cool driving beat, a little distortion on the bass, awesome.

Awesome, Love the attitude in young Mr Crosby's voice! A different take on this song but i definitely think it works, has me bouncing all over the place when it comes on!

This version is shit. Crosby's voice is too reedy and weak to carry the vocal melody and the tempo is far too fast which takes everything 'blue' out of it.

Beautiful recording of Hey Joe. I think it better than the original recording made by The Leaves. I love David Crosby's guitar, which is typically right folk. It's nice to compare agains't the full blues guitar that Jimi Hendrix set on this song. In time, this cover is great, but Jimmy is final.

This is definitely one of the more interesting covers of Hey Joe. Jimi hendrix got the idea of playing it from seeing Tim Rose play it live and it's basically like the original Billy Roberts song, but this very different and peppy.
