Oh how this literally hits my feels, and needless to say I feel so fucking terrible.I regret nothing for reasons which will be stated shortly, but I promised this guy I'd be his eventually. I knew though there'd come a time when I'd be gone for weeks on end when my career took off, but I never exactly thought about how much of a negative impact it would have on us as a couple. That was, until, I realized we going a hundred miles an hour on a road leading to a toxic relationship. I made so many efforts to please him, I gave up everything I had at that time for him, and I was loyal even if we weren't together. Words can't describe how much it hurts to hear how miserable someone is even when you're making every attempt to make it not so. And what made it all worse was if he was miserable, it seemed he intentionally would make every effort to bring me down even lower than he felt. He even told me multiple times it was highly unlikely I was ever gonna succeed with what I wanted to do. And I was so ready to give up my dream for him. Not too long before breaking it off, I really thought it through. And then came the day I officially decided. I never wanted to experience those dreadful moments when I'd have to leave him for weeks, it wouldn't have been worth waiting for me. I went over to his house, knowing it'd be the last time we'd ever share a night like it. I gave him endless affection, and we, as usual, ended up having sex. I said "I love you" for the last time. And then came the day I broke his heart. I realized everything I wanted was in front of me, it just wasn't him.. I asked if we could just be friends.. he's still miserable but reluctantly agreed. It literally pains me to sit there and think we wasted all that time, and I pretty much led him on.. so much disgust, and I feel so fucking selfish. I may have fucked him up for good.. but happiness starts with yourself, and you can't make anyone else happy until YOU'RE happy. And now...? I have everything in place, and I have what I need holding my hand through all this. Again, it hurts, but failing somone one last time certainly hurts a lot less than knowing you're failing someone everyday. I'm sorry it's gotta be this way, Mike. I'm sorry I wasted your time. I'm sorry, I fucked everything up.
