BRAND NEW HEAVIES najväčši hit skupiny You´ve Got A Friend skončil v oktobri 1997 na 9.m. v UK a v rebríčku bol 8 týždňov najdlhšie zo všetkých ich skladieb. Bola to cover verzia piesne americkej skladateľky a speváčky Caroli King nar. 9. februara 1942 v Manhattane z albumu Tapestry, ktorú preslávil James Taylor nar. 12. mája 1948 v Bostone. V jeho podaní ako 296. hit bola týždeň od 31. júla 1971 na vrchole rebríčka v USA. Získala dve Grammy ako pieseň roka a za najlepšie prevedenie v mužskom vokálnom speve. Pieseň naspievala na album SHELTER, ktorý obsadil v UK 5.m. americká speváčka Siedah Garret nar. 24. júna 1960 v Los Angeles ako členka Brand New Heavies. Speváčka sa preslávila vokálnym spevom v hite čislo 1. Michaela Jacksona I Just Cant Stop Loving You z roku 1987. O rok neskôr spievala spoločne s The Winans a Andrae Crouch Choir v hite čislo 1. Man In Mirror. V skupine BNH vystriedala americkú speváčku z Atlanty N´Dea Davenport. Acid Jazzovú skupinu Brand New Heavies vytvorili v roku 1985 v londýnskej štvrti EALING Andrew Levy nar. 20. júla 1966 klávesové nástroje, Simon Bartholomew nar. 16. oktobra 1965 gitara a Jan Kincaid nar. 17. mája 1966 bicie. Trojicu doplnila speváčka Linda Muriel, Ceri Evans klavesové nástroje, Mike Smith saxofon a Paul Dias trubka. V zostave sa vystriedali Lascelles Gordon perkusie, Jim Wellman saxofon a Alison Limerick spev. Skupina mala v UK rebríčku do roku 1999 celkom 6 albumov. NO! Siedah Garrett did a whole cd with BNH = "Shelter", a fine cd and 1 of their best. She didn't LOVE the working situation and is back making music, writing songs w others, alone, for others, for self, etc. She's an amazing talent!10 years ago
