it has heavy industrial sounds like you said but also the high, cheery vocals. That's what makes them gothic in my opinion.

Maybe so but what I'm talking about is the lyrical content, the style and imagery of the band and also the emotions conveyed in the music. They usually convey feelings of sorrow and grief, but also anger, and they mix that in with a cheery style that gives it contrast - typical of the gothic genre of novels and typical of gothic music, as it features the "beauty and the beast" style of music but instead of having dual vocals with harsh male growling and fair female singing

Industrial is a massive genre, listen to Einstürzende Neubauten and then to Rammstien to see what I mean. Industrial Rock essentially combines the harsh electronic sound with gothic or hard rock. To be fair, TBM is a fairly weak example and doesn't exactly fit in either; songs like "Red Stars" and "Blue" are definitely Industrial Rock where as songs like this are less firmly rooted in the genre
