It's a nice cover in some ways, but if anything, I don't think it went far enough. The synthy instrumentation is good, but while her voice has a very nice quality to it, I felt like she was trying to be too close to the original. For example, when she sings "You can't tell me you don't miss me, girl", are we supposed to assume that she's singing from a lesbian perspective, or did she just not want to do any gender changes to the lyrics? In any case, I doubt if anybody can outdo Daryl Hall at stretching out syllables and exclamatory "oohs"!

Probably one of the hardest songs from Hall and Oates to cover, likely because the original lead vocal is one of the most beautiful recordings ever made in modern times ... this cover captures the dreamy, wistful quality that Daryl Hall gave us on H20 back in 1982.

Really good, I just think that the sustained strings beginning at 2:32 is a hand overplayed. The strength of the original recording is the spartan instrumentation. The sustained strings got away from that in a way that complicates the message, which is "One on One".

I agree it is a great cover. Have you heard Jimmy Wayne's cover of, "Sara Smile"? Hall & Oates actually sing background vocals on Jimmy's cover and it is an amazing cover! You should definitely check it out if you don't already know it.

@hernameisrio: no doubt! i first heard of them about a year and half ago on a local sunday night radio here in dallas, tx called "the adventure club". it's pretty much all indie/underground stuff. josh (the host) played their cover of "private eyes" and i flipped! this chicks voice is soooooooooo sexy, not to mention their production. everything they touch is simply magnificent! check out their bee gees covers too! ;)
