Outtake from the 'Beatles For Sale' album sessions in September 1964. What's remarkable here is what appears to have been an homage to their infatuation with Detroit's 'Motown Sound.' Too bad it was homogenized from any 'blue-eyed' soul there may have been in intent. Thanks, George Martin, for rendering the final version sound so neutered and soulless.

I think I'm going to endorse this version as the superior one, adding to those who have voiced their opinions below...never heard it before-thanks for posting!

I really love the Motown feel of this version, the key change in the break; AND I periodically detect the drum riff that Ringo later used in 'Tomorrow Never Knows' . . .

the other version has a haunting quality. it is brilliant on its own merit. besides, paul himself probably changed it. always the perfectionist.

This and the as-released version are two different songs.....they just have the same lyrics. Neither is better, they are just different and I really like both of them. Thank you for sharing this. Its like discovering a new Beatles song.

What is the point of that remark?@astroboicrap BTW, opera is not my main bag, I study music from the roots up, have a vast music collection and have been playing guitar for 50 years, Piedmont style. Shared this to my muso mates, they were blown away!

Martin by this time was having far less input. They we're arranging themselves brilliantly by late 1964. Anything he suggested would have been vetoed by them if they didn't like it. Eight Days A Week was the same - how the fade up intro evolved from the ooohhh vocals was all by them. This finished track is one of my fave Beatle tracks
