If Paul said he is the lead singer in this track it was for sure by mistake and not because he wanted to have credit for it. Sure he knows we would recognize John's voice. Where did he say it? Anthology?

McCartney claims to have written the song by himself, but in the very same sentence he claims he also sang the lead which is clearly not the case. He also started claiming he wrote In My Life, after Lennon and Harrison were dead of course, despite the fact Harrison played it as a tribute to Lennon in concert. So you have to take it with a grain of salt.
