Basically the Anthology version, with engineer Norman Smith's announcement. This Take 1 was recorded on October 24, 1965. It is slower than the released version, had a significantly different rhythm, and lacked the "Why, tell me why..." middle eighth of the final version. Enjoy!

Lyrics:

I'm looking through you

Where did you go

I thought I knew you

What did I know

You don't look different

But you have changed

I'm looking through you

You're not the same

Your lips are moving

I cannot hear

You voice is soothing

But the words aren't clear

You don't sound different

I've learned the game

I'm looking through you

You're not the same

You're thinking of me

The same old way

You were above me

But not today

The only difference

Is you're down there

I'm looking though you

And you're nowhere

The only difference

Is you're down there

I'm looking though you

And you're nowhere

Yeah, nowhere

Yeah, I'm looking through you

Yeah, I'm looking through you

Yeah, I'm looking through you

I prefer this instead the version released on"Rubber Soul" , sorry the second part is not included, maybe it's not composed yet.

It so hard to believe in such from Inspite of all the danger ( you came to me) into historical fame no can level up to that music will go on even after we all gone I am still thinking if any other muzo has came out with memorable song such like yesterday or all things must pass maybe it's goerge song but it recorded as Beatles song no can level to such talented group like the beatles although mccartney still keeping it alife :-)

it's 25 years after i first head this, and i still don't know what paul is screaming at the end. or why it gets louder there....i guess it's one of those enduring anomalies.

You could remake this song in millon different ways and it would always be great.

This is my preferred version of this song. To me this anthology version has a better rhythm. Though they both have a great sound:)

I prefer this version much more than the one on Rubber Soul. This could have been issued as a single.

Why, tell me why, did you not treat me right? Love has a nasty habit of disappearing overnight........... That's the only flaw

Boy, this is tough. Both versions of this song have their merits. If I were the Beatles in late '65 deciding which version to release, I'd toss a coin.

This version rocks harder than the eventual album version! Two awesome versions for two different moods.

I love the guitar and bass more in this version as well as the slower tempo.

The Posies did a cover of this version of the song and it sounds almost alike. You should check it out. But honestly, I like this version better than the version we have on Rubber Soul.
