I understand life much better since I've read "The Present" at TruthContest○com → I suggest to everyone to take a look at this amazing book (make sure to read the part about The Beatles: pg 59-68).

I don't understand how any early Beatles song with a good drum track people clamor for ways to prove that it's not Ringo playing. Listen to the ride cymbal. Is it straight or is it swung? It's neither, somewhere in between the two. That's the easiest way to recognize Ringo's playing, he has a very distinct shuffle (what goes on is a perfect example, as are the fills in strawberry fields and a day in the life). Also it's well documented that this is Ringo anyway. Fantastic drummer

...which means that this track may have been wrongly attributed on the Beatles at the BBC CD and may have been something recorded at the Playhouse, Manchester in 1962, before Best was sacked. Pete Best sounds like a pretty serviceable drummer to me and I've heard a lot of his recordings. It's obvious that they sacked him because his face didn't fit rather than because of his playing.

I agree that this sounds like Pete Best, not Ringo. That rapid fill is used by Pete Best on practically everything he played with The Beatles. Check out the Decca test recordings, it's all over everything.

I think that all of these BBC recorded covers show what a solid, kick ass, steady drummer Ringo was in their early days.

@MrAussiebloke49- No, this is Ringo. It was recorded in 1963, just like most of the Live At The BBC album.
