From their movie "The Last Waltz" with The Staple Singers -

I pulled into Nazareth, I was feelin' about half past dead;

I just need some place where I can lay my head.

"Hey, mister, can you tell me where a man might find a bed?"

He just grinned and shook my hand, and "No!", was all he said.

(Chorus:)

Take a load off Fannie, take a load for free;

Take a load off Fannie, And (and) (and) you can put the load right on me.

I picked up my bag, I went lookin' for a place to hide;

When I saw Carmen and the Devil walkin' side by side.

I said, "Hey, Carmen, come on, let's go downtown."

She said, "I gotta go, but m'friend can stick around."

(Chorus)

Go down, Miss Moses, there's nothin' you can say

It's just ol' Luke, and Luke's waitin' on the Judgement Day.

"Well, Luke, my friend, what about young Anna Lee?"

He said, "Do me a favor, son, woncha stay an' keep Anna Lee company?"

(Chorus)

Crazy Chester followed me, and he caught me in the fog.

He said, "I will fix your rags, if you'll take Jack, my dog."

I said, "Wait a minute, Chester, you know I'm a peaceful man."

He said, "That's okay, boy, won't you feed him when you can."

(Chorus)

Catch a Cannonball, now, t'take me down the line

My bag is sinkin' low and I do believe it's time.

To get back to Miss Annie, you know she's the only one.

Who sent me here with her regards for everyone.

(Chorus)

Saw the Grammy's and that's that Levon. Don't have any heroes in music at all. You're the first after 52 years breathing and 40 years a fan and yes Robbie is and always was a narcissistic and a total and in the biblical sense … guitar playing prick. Ta Dah!!! you were right again Sir... RIP and thank's for the mandolin riffs kid. You will play me out and bring the crowd to tears yet again one fine day… Regards to all your family.

I pulled into New Orleans feeling about half past dead....then I saw Carmen, and her friend....I ended up hanging out with him, and he put the load right on me.

The band left a legacy of timeless ballads and poetry. When I listen, I can see the musical notes they create floating around me in glorious techni-color and I haven't taken anything hallucinogenic! My body moves involuntarily, I lose control and let it all fly. And that woman's voice...powerful doesn't even begin to describe it.

Seen this before and of course listened the song countless times but just snappedto - heard - if at 2min56 Danko ends his solo w/ " ... C'mon!" that command is one of the ten coolest rock moments ever. I mean the song's iconic and this take singing w/ The Staples and Danko knows they're nailing it ...

Entire "Last Waltz" show Robertson's mike was off...Robertson can't sing. But editing was done to make it look like it was Robertson and his Band.

Thank you for the upload, I saw the band before they broke up and it was one of the greatest concerts I've had the pleasure to see. Levon Helm singing Robbie Robertson lyrics, good God, could anything ever be better?
