I was born in 29 Palms, January, 1939. My mother was in the first graduating class of 29 Palms High School, 1937, I believe. She was acquainted with Allie Wrubel, (writer of this song), and always claimed she was the subject of the song. Since Mother is always right, who am I to argue :-)

It's nice to have some classy ladies represent 29 palms in the form of a classic song. All we have nowadays to shine any light on our valley is loaded celebrities either partying here or getting sober here. Not very classy. Thankfully we have classic, famous people with real talent to have made this valley a special place. ;)
