It seems that you are right. Gojira also came up with something similar in 2008 as explained in that video : /watch?v=WrOIl9xcEws They all just came up with the same idea around the same time :)

I've seen Stef (Textures' drummer) comment that he had a chat with Tomas Haake (Meshuggah's drummer) about this pattern. Both ObZen and Silhouettes were released in 2008, so they didn't rip each other off. It's just a really cool pattern. Actually, look up the video 'stef broks rehearsal' on here.. you'll see that he's playing the pattern at the end and that video was posted way before either album was released.

Well the drumming pattern is VERY similar to "Bleed" not just the herta. Especially at 4:46 "While we all have lots of bands for influence still...we all rip off Meshuggah" Devin Townsend

i really am sorry. and no not really considering i spent 5 minutes of being a troll for absolutely no reason. i didnt mean to darken your day any, but in all honesty i didnt get it. . i just saw /invented/ and thought "well that will give ammo to ignorant people(like myself), imma kill it, imma kill it right now". in conclusion im sorry for being an ignorant douche.

You're a pretty clever guy, right Dylan? Figure you've got a pretty good head on your shoulders? Read what you replied to again, and see if your comment was really warranted before you ruin a perfectly good stitch ov facetiousness any further.

uuuummmmm vinnie paul in becoming? . . . also travis barker did them alot in blink 182 just listen to the beginging of violence and to say someone one invented a rhythm is silly. considering almost every drumbeat, drum fill, and rythmic pattern are based off the rudiments. which have been around for . . . centuries? its all relative. . . not trying to be a dick but seriously gojira might be reinventing music but not inventing anything

But if you take into account the fact that Meshuggah's excessive use of polyrhythms can bend time-space, it's likely that Meshuggah retroactively inspired Gojira. Science~

You're right, I mean there's no way Deraek's comment could have been sarcastic. >.>

nah i wouldnt say mario from gojira invented it. I dont really think there is a true "inventor" of it because iv heard it in drum fills, such as no one knows- queens of the stone age (dave grohl) which was released all the way back in 2003 and brann dailor from mastodon did it quite a bit in fills too before gojira was doing it.

I know, eh? Esoteric Surgery came out before Bleed, though. Really, the herta was invented in that song. No, straight up, Gojira /invented/ that rhythm. It's not something that's been common for centuries. True fact.

I love when anyone hears a herta on a metal song their like "It's BLEED!"
