Terry recorded this version of his #6 hit, Suspicion, for Atlantic records, several years after his hits for the Crusader label stopped. I think this is a great take on a great song and it should've been a hit for him all over again, this time in the country field. Also featured on this LP was his original version of the song Amarillo By Morning, which George Strait later had a monster country hit with (needless to say I still think Terry's version of that is also better). Terry passed away on March 17, 1996. The Say Has Anybody Seen My Sweet Gypsy Rose album has been reissued on cd (although the quality is not very good -- the picture in this video comes from that cd cover, a cropped version of the original album cover -- that's Terry's hand that looks rather out of place in the cropped picture -- however the audio from this video comes from a mint copy of the vinyl LP that i opened just to dub this song) . C'mon Slack, mich was merely commenting he/she prefered the '63 version.("Great version" you can hardly call "hating") I prefer the earlier version too,but it's nice to hear this rerecording too (for once).

Not bad, it was a great song originally, and I think he did the song justice, it's really not all that different except for the way too loud slide guitar, but I will agree with most who like the original better. But I'm glad HE did it, rather than someone else, who better to cover it, right? Thanks for the listen, Peace

I've just recently re-discovered this song. I loved it when I was a teen, and hearing it again brings me back. Terry's voice is so soulful and comforting...I have never heard this country version, though. It's wonderful. Thank you for posting this.
