My God! She used to give me bath in the kitchen sink (1943) in East St. Louis before she became the lead singer for the Duke; however, I never heard her sing "Cool Water." What a surprise. She used to sing to me every morning. It seems like yesterday. Cindy Louper now imitates her style.

Such a fine song, so well sung by such a cutie-pie, sweet Teresa.

Yes, the orginal version was by the Sons Of The Pioneers. Bob Noland, the Sons lead singer wrote the song way back in the thirties. The bigest hit of the song was in the mid forties by Vaugn Monroe backed up by the same Sons Of The Pioneers. Through the years many recordings of this song were made by many, many singers. I have put a lot of versions on You Tube. I have always thought that the best was the 1955 recording by Frankie Laine but that's just me.

I could be wrong but I think the original came from the Sons of the Pioneers. They used to sing in the old Roy Roger movies..or maybe it was Gene Autry..heck I don't know but I was there....:)

I agree that there are many good versions of this song and this version, IMO is good. To me, the excellence of the good versions is so close that it is not possible for me personally to say one is better than the others. The song is a classic, however.

@mojorama1 Yes I know there are a lot of Williams fans out there. A great song writer but I could never go for his type of country singing. I guess that's just the City boy in me. What I always thought was the best version of this great song was Frankie Laine's 1955 recording. But that's just me.

There are many good recordings of this song. Check out Slim Whitman's version which in my opinion is by far the best.

@downhill240 Yes she was cute and had a voice far different than any female of her time. I had to lisen to this recording several times before I could bring myself to admit that this was good. Far different than the other recordings. That's why I posted it. But I still think that the best on this song was Frankie Laine.

Teresa was as cute as a button in her day, with a very big voice. Thanks for sharing!
