Written by Don Henley and Glenn Frey as the lead single for the Eagles' second album Desperado, "Tequila Sunrise" is a laid back acoustic classic that every guitarist should have in their repertoire.
In this Tequila Sunrise guitar lesson, I will show you all the chords for this Eagles' fan favorite.
The song begins with an open G major chord that is embellished with a cool hammer-on lick to give it a little more movement.
I think the first thing you should try to learn in "Tequila Sunrise" is the rhythm. That strumming pattern is used throughout a majority of the song and once you get a good handle on that rhythm, everything else will feel quite simple.
The verse consists of just 3 open position chords. It really is about the vibe that the repeated rhythm creates than a bunch of flashy chords.
However, a little later in the song, especially during the bridge, you will run into some barre chords that might create a challenge for you if you aren't very adept at playing those types of chords yet.
If that is the case, you can at least take it a little more easy here since the tempo of the chord changes isn't very fast.
So concentrate on keeping that rhythm going consistently and you will be playing "Tequila Sunrise" in no time!
