As Kurt Cobain said "Punk is musical freedom. It's saying, doing and playing what you want." The TVPs were the true essence of punk, no posing, no musical frills, no false stance, just an honest and wry commentary about the world around them. And an affection for what went before them. The TVPs were a massive influence on bands that went on to have much greater commercial success, including Nirvana. And on bands that had no commercial success whatsoever, like Chekov Plays Pop!
