CHOPIN -- ETUDE OPUS 10 #4 from IN THE SHADOW OF THE MASTERS. I love Chopin's music - some of it is mellow and absolutely angelic -- some of it is wild and diabolical -- this is one of the diabolical ones...

Frederic Chopin (1810-1849} In his short life of only 39 years, Chopin wrote some of the most beautiful, ethereal melodies of all time. His first piano concerto is incredible - the adagio movement reminds me of what heaven might sound like.

To me, the fantastic music of the classical masters is in a totally different realm - there simply is no other music to compare it to. I believe it was a time in history that will never be repeated - kind of like when dinosaurs roamed the earth. In drumming to these timeless works as with any music, I always strive to treat the drums as a musical instrument - not just a noisy time keeper.

As drummer, songwriter and cofounder of Tourniquet since its inception in 1990, Ted's aggressive, musical, and often unorthodox approach to the drums has been recognized by thousands. The readers of HM Magazine voted him "Favorite Drummer" for 10 years in a row. Ted has twice been featured in Modern Drummer Magazine and countless drummers now list him as one of their drumming influences.

I saw Tourniquet play 4 or 5 times between 92 and 94. Not to detract from the current band's musicians, but I miss the old lineup with Gary, Eric, Victor, etc.. but Ted is awesome as always. A very skilled and inspired musician!

As the matter of fact to me, it suits perfectly, I've never really heard any drummer playing like Ted right from the 80s. This kind of drumming is not metal playing at all. It's not that aggressive. Some comments didn't even noticed that. In fact, why would a musician limit himself to some type of playing like metal, or classical, or rock or what not?

(Contd.) There should be varieties in a good music. It's the ability to clump them all together and makes a really good music out of it, that's all about being a good musician just like Ted and many other guitar players like Vinnie Moore did. That's how it works. No wonder, no one has even playing drums like that so far in any classical runs except Ted himself. That is really great. Ted's awesome drummer.

its actually good, but not equalized. the drums bleed over the piano when they should serve as an enhancement for it

Ted...you're amazing. Do you still play solos with red plastic jumbo baseball bats? I saw you do that when I was like 16. I'm 39 now! :D
