A very little known gem by John Mellencamp. I have listened to this song for many years now, it never gets old.

What a beautifully written and heartfelt song, very poetic. I love John's earliest releases the best. Thanks for sharing, Mike.

Couger/Mellencamp's first album was an artistic gem, his best.

It was 1979, I broke a girls heart and another girl broke mine.... so I moved 700 mi away to the oil fields of Wyoming, had some friends there. One of them lived in the Grimmis and Park Apts. It was such a sad and mixed up time in my life. Every time I hear this song it reminds me of that summer. I had just bought the first JC album with this song on it before I left for Wyoming and I listened to it at least once each day that crazy summer. I never really got over either of those two women.

I'll get straight to the point here. I feel that this song is beautiful - a musical gem. Based on the lyrics, pace and performance, John Mellencamp should be so proud of providing this treat to all, albeit some time ago. To borrow from another "Key" tune of his (yes, my intermezzo): he wrote it first.

The irony is you can buy the album on the US iTunes store ... but not where I live here in Denmark ...! Love this song - sentimental favorite.
