Been a while since I've seen this video. Her deep voice was so unique. Love the longer hair best on her. If Elvis and Selma Hayek had a girl, Tanita Takaram is what she would look like.

wow, she looks cheered up by the children. Isn't it time to have her own already as she is 40+? Still beautiful and utmost talented woman. As for under appreciated singers, I know too many of them. Don't believe that Tanita is such, because she doesn't like cameras actually.

What do you mean by "they cut her hair off"? Do you really think they FORCED her to do this???? We actually should be glad that she is not the kind of artist who became a lifelong victim of her own haircut like Mireille Mathieu or Nana Mouskuri ;-)

I remember clearly at the time that there were rumours that Tanita had a Cock & Bollocks due to her deep voice... and she only served to fuel this rumours when she cut off all her hair to resemble a man. Whatever the case, her music is great and still stands the test of time. Live and let live I say.

I love her voice since I first heared her, and this is my favourite song. Tanita Tikaram is my Far Coming Princess (instead of Frog Princess). Thank for visiting Lodz in 2011...I never dreamed to see YOU alive

Hard to believe that this is twenty years old. To me, it is as fresh and vibrant as the first time I heard it.

@Khairabar Must agree that she "has music in every inch of her". Seing her perform in 90 and 91, it was interesting both times she kept her eyes closed through almost the whole show. Could only imagine she was still 'feeling' the music in the songs she performed 500 times before!

Love her!

what a voice, & this lady has music in every inch of her, her whole body alive to the music, every slightest nuance, inflection & beat. Nowhere more evident than on "Everybody's Angel" (1991) - every single track on it is a minor masterpiece of writing & singing, simply awesome production, brass/strings adding an almost classical counterpoint to th sharp guitars & keyboards, such a pleasure - how is it that so little of her great stuff, & not even a single track off this album, is on YouTube?

first time I've seen this video since 1990. Its great. She is the most unappreicated artist out there. Amazing. I have all her cds and can't wait for her next one. I love her in so many ways.

According to Wikipedia, she had an album out in 2005, but it was only released on a French label ! "Trouble" from "Eleven Kinds of Loneliness" was her best song (in my opinion, and that I've heard), and it wasn't even released as a single. What's wrong with these people?!

This was the video that introduced me to this wonderful talent. I was having breakfast at the cantine at my barracks in Germany, and there it was, tucked away among all the rap and CW vids, typically more popular with American soldiers. Thanks for your posting.

A sad and unfortunate event. I also think that those of us that are fans were there, but the mainstream listeners probably couldn't get past how low her voice is, especially since she is pretty small... Their loss, what a talent!

Thank you so much for posting! Saw the CD on my shelf and thought I'd see if this was here... Good timing, I guess! Awesome!
