Wrote this a year ago, still come back here often. That last solo. Man oh man. He just shatters, absolutely ANNIHILATES, almost anything else I've heard in the genre. I especially love that part at about 5:00, where it peaks, and he is staggering, and you can hear people moaning and gasping at the intensity and skill. It's not even cheering, more like crys of disbelief and shock. Immaculate.

Also try Coco Montoya, Joe Bonamasi, Debbie Davies, SloLeak, James Harmon Band, Corby Yates Band...You might enjoy them also. Rory Gallagher (RIP) He was a guitar GOD as well.

He is phenomenal however he is in my opinion underrated as a guitarist. He is well regarded in blues circles but is seldom heard outside that community. In my opinion he ranks among the Ten Top current Blues Guitarist in the world today.

He's the real deal. And yes, he's recognized in the USA, particularly in the Gulf Coast area. He's a big part of the Voice of the Wetlands project (google it) I had the privilege to meet him a couple times and all I can say is that they guy can tear it up!

How famous is this guy? Me and a friend wanted to share a bottle of whisk and I decided to stir up a bluesy rock playlist for the occasion. And I come across this guy. He's been around for ages, and he's a guitar GOD. Is he a recognized blues star in the US? Im European so I wouldnt know

this is just g.d. yes all around. you play, harder, and with more soul just BECAUSE there are only fifty people in the audience. well done, Tab. this is the video I will always point to, if I am offering anyone musical advice. great post.

just a quick note: 4:37... if you ever wanted a brief but solid example of the man-woman situation. it is there. who woulda thunk a random "tab benoit tearing up the blues" search would get it. you have that man, in the black hat, at the start of the second solo, mesmerized through the centuries of all time. listening, and feeling every damn pluck... meanwhile the woman next to him, is busy recording it all. and that's it. not detrimental to either. because she is recording, they can watch later

tab benoit... if there was ever a savior, from the dull dreariness of modernity - with all these kids and poster rockers carrying around plastic guitars, and putting on shows... it is THIS man!!! Some days I feel like going down, into the street, and yelling out: "LISTEN TO TAB BENOIT!!!" but maybe that would kill him...

I first saw this guy 17 years ago in a little bar. I was blown away then, and he is even better now. This guy has the blues in his soul.
