ive been going thru a bit of French star Sylvain Chauveau atm, his piano and modern classical compositions are breath taking... got his "Un Autre Décembre" (2003) album while working at stomp & since then keep returning back this this geniuses catalog... everything he's done is absolutely amazing, has opened for Sigur Rós a few times, multi instrumentalist (electric guitar, piano, strings, winds, electronic sounds) and uses silence as a musical element in itself... and here's a great example of his work. this album is "An Acoustic Tribute to Depeche Mode", alongside the Ensemble Nocturne, the whole album creeps thru with the blissful / haunting melodies of the original pieces but "stripped" back to just a few elements, with a focus on Sylvain's piano skills and really reflect his own personal style. The album covers hits like The Things You Said, (Enjoy) The Silence, Never Let Me Down Again, Home & here "Stripped"... such a beautiful piece...Sylvain Chauveau & Ensemble Nocturne - Stripped
