I can agree in some parts... That piper at the gates of dawn is one of the most experimental ("POP" - many actually liked it) albums in rock history of all time and deservs all credit for inovation... but so do Beatles did a lot of experimental... yeah we all know they started with songs for girls, but they developed quite fast. and I am Walrus is crazy as sh*t.

im not tryin 2 put down what others might like,but what u got 2 understand is this comes from the fact that the beatles n stones r desribed as the best bands from the most musically groundbraking period in history which is the 60s,ive never once heard jagger keith richards lennon or mc cartney name other original talent,or deny that they r the best bands from the 60s,a label that they both didnt mind being called.but i beleive this judgement is made on record sales alone.

im gonna say what i beleive syd barrett is more important 2 music as n artform than the beatles n the stones,piper at the gates of dawn in mono is astounding,not only is it more exsperimental than anything done by the 2 bands i mentioned,who both sold out 2 get their contracts,pink floyds 1st lp was groundbraking its not what i call pop or predictable its special,4 me millions can copy but few understand what being a tru innavator is,hendrix n captain beefhart did n many of the 60s unknowns.

This is definitely one of the better melodies that Syd created. It has an almost palpable quality of innocence to it, much like the man himself.
