What possessed M Gira / the band to redo this song on subsequent presses? It is the best track on the album by some margin, and the later version is really missing something in comparison.

I had Mr. Gira sign my copy of the original '87 pressing of Children of God. I also had him sign the lyrics of Our Love Lies.

I bought this CD in 1989. It was released in 1987 on Caroline records. It is, in my opinion, one of the ten best albums of the 1980's, solely for its originality and timelessness. Gira was never able to top this one. It is in a word, simply beautiful. I never get tired of it, because it is so original. There is NOTHING else out there that sounds like this. NOTHING. This version of OUR LOVE LIES is only available on the original Caroline release, and it IS MUCH BETTER than the accoustic version released on subsequent YOUNG GOD RECORDS releases, the accoustic version being originally released on a fanzine flexi disc from 1987...powerful stuff!

Did you love was invented to control humans since the bible days? It started with a false god. Love does lie because it was the biggest lie ever told. Animals don't follow it. Animal babies care for them selves better than human ones. Why? Love is used to control people who are NOT wanted to get them to end there lives. So would not evolution show itself in babies who are TOO dependent on mom & dad? SAD

@Burningchromosome As I wrote in the description, it's on the first pressing of Children of God, but for whatever reason they replaced it with the one from the Love Will Tear Us Apart EP. I don't know why they'd do that :/ I like this one a lot better.

Thanks! This is how I remember it. Did they just decide the version from the Love Will Tear Us Apart single was so much better they had to do away with this one? I HATE that version, this one's much more in the spirit of the LP. I'm glad they kept the original New Mind. I blame George Lucas. XD (for the record, Our Love Lies and New Mind were both re-recorded for the Love Will Tear Us Apart singles. There's a "black edition" a "red edition" and a CD, I forget which one has which track)
