Fuck the English!!!! ...Like my Grandmother did. Two Island nations can't be so geographically close without a certain amount of sex happening? And we all know what happens when you do that. Then add Wales, Scotland, Cornwall.... I'm from the British Isles - if there was a name that didn't give preference to one island over the other, I would use that. The past is where it is, continuing this old hate helps neither side. And in continuity with the the peoples of both our islands, i'm drunk.

I love his music and thats all that matters to me :) In defence of 3spider though there is certainly nothing wrong with having Irish heritage (my dad was Irish) but that does not mean you should fall into the trap of disrespecting that heritage by positively supporting Irish stereotypes like constantly being drunk. Nor does it mean you should deny the other part of who you are which is English because you hate or mistrust a nation for things done many years ago. But the music is awesome! :)

he IS Irish. His parents went to England and his Mom gave birth to him there. Lived in Ireland until he was something like 6, moved to England and moved back to Ireland when he was older. Tipperary. And further more, who the hell cares? His music is uh-maze-ing. The Pogues were never the same without him.

Chesto18 - what's your fuckin point you racist prick? can a person not have Irish heritage if they are born on foreign soil? The diaspora was a result od British imperialism, are we now also to be denied our heritage by the same wankers who starved our ancestors from their homeland?

@stupotty40 He's Irish by blood, at any rate, and given various interviews I've heard him give and stories I've heard about him, as well as the culture and heritage displayed in his music, that's clearly where he identifies with. He was soaked in Irish culture during him time there, evidently.

@AMoldyPeach That's right, his father worked away, so he had to go to London when he was young, and lived there for a few years. If you're born from Irish parents and were yourself born in Ireland, I'd say that makes you Irish! I went to Poland once for a trip, I don't think that makes me Polish.

@fergiewergie Actually he's born in Ireland and stayed there until he was maybe 6 or 7, something like that, then went to England to live with his parents, a place he always hated. I mean, what the hell, he's irish, if he isn't, no one is.
