It is not McCartney. He is only on My Dark Hour, playing both bass and drums.

no way is that Macca on drums, the drumming fills on this are of a very high standard, Macca was a decent drummer but pretty straight forward. I've never heard him do fills like this on any record. If he is on this track he's probably only providing bass, and even that doesn't sound like his style.

Lonnie Turner was a hell of a better bassist than McCartney anyway

Maybe Paul McCartney is just playing bass, it does not sound like his drumming style

I'm 22 and I have always loved Steve Miller. Then one day I realized I didn't have any of his old stuff. This album and Children of the Future quickly became 2 of my favorites of ALL TIME. So amazing!

@Dominator8146 I don't know I think I'd trust the credits on the old album. I mean if they remembered to credit Paul on My Dark Hour, if he played on Celebration Song I'm sure they'd have credited him there. There is an interview with Steve Miller talking about Paul's work on My Dark Hour, he never mentions Celebration Song. Not that I wouldn't love to think Macca was playing on it but there doesn't seem to be a solid source for that information. Anyone can post the info on wikipedia.

@electricrevelations Well, I don't have the vinyl or even a cd copy for that matter but if you Google "Paul McCartney my dark hour" you will come up with several sources stating that he played backing vocals, drums and bass guitar credited as Paul Ramon.

@electricrevelations Nope, look it up. He was credited as "Paul Ramon"

Steve lives near me! Well, almost. He's in Oregon and we're in British Columbia. Don't laugh. Join the Cascadia movement. BC, Warsh and Oregon in our own superstate/province. Dedicated to the enviroment, truth, justice and the Cascadian way!

@SergeantReese It's a great song. I couldn't believe that it wasn't already up. That's Paul McCartney on bass, drums, and vocals.
