I always love to write and read in 1st person view. It's so perfect, makes a story or a poem even more intense and really sucks you in. And German has a long tradition as the language of "poets and philosophers", this might be another reason why we love it.

I guess that's kind of a linguistical difference. 1st person view is very common in German in lyrics, poetry etc. whereas English uses 2nd person view ("you") more often. 2nd person view is hard to find in German. It's used if you wanna adress to a specific person in most cases (e. g. in love songs) or of you wanna create a kind of distance between author & the person it refers to. I guess Germans tend to identify themselves better in 1st view compared to English people.

But it's not common for industrial/ebm bands who sing in english. There's gotta be some other reason...

Yeah it's characteristic for most German EBM/Industrial lyrics to be written in first person view. That has to do with the topics they pick out and the message they wanna create. And its definitely significant for Steinkind. "Steinkind" is singular as well. Search for "stone baby" or lithopedion on Wikipedia.

it's kinda funny how most ebm song sang in german the lyrics have "ich bin this... ich bin that... It's not common in english for people to write like this, i am this, i am that, i am god, etc...
