Steelwing es una de tantas bandas que conforman la denominada NWOTHM (New Wave Of Traditional Heavy Metal) junto a bandas como Striker, Cauldron, Skull Fist y White Wizzard.

Tomando influencia de bandas old school y de la NWOBHM que vendrian siendo Motörhead, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Led Zepellin, Grim Reaper, DIO y Rainbow.

Debutando en el 2010 con su disco de larga duracion titulado Lord of the Wasteland, reflejando en temas como Headhunter, Roadkill (or be Killed), The Illusion y Under Scavenger Sun, el sonido y la energia que se solia hacer en la escena metalera en los 80's.
