From the 1991 album "Play".

One of my favourite Squeeze songs. Tilbrook claimed not to understand the lyric but still managed to write a sublime musical arrangement and managed to capture the mood brilliantly.

Wow! Tilbrook must have been very young and happy not to have understood the lyrics. Subconsciously he must have to understood to have been able to fit the mood, not to mention singing with that feeling. Thank you for all of your awesome Squeeze Posts!

@sonicfrogdotnet not really that hard. The chords used to be on the old squeezefan site but i just checked and they have been taken down. Send me your email address and I will scan them in for you. Its a ripping song to play because of the driving rhythm and resonance and wonderful tilly chords.

@Mikeya85 I've been playing bass for 25 years (see my post above), and only recently took up guitar. Is this hard to play?

As a bass player, I can tell you some of the work done by Keith Wilkinson on this album is nothing short of fantastic. But the real genius in the song, and the album, is Diffords lyrics. Because of that, Play is one of my all time favorite albums. I mean, come on, who else could pull a lyric like this: "A very acidic tongue, waggled in her head, uagh uagh...."

For me it evokes only happy feelings.

She left in the middle of the night with the kids ....... How could I forget, t? There's two sides to this song, despair and hope. It's the hope bit I cling on to when I'm a my lowest.

So you picked the saddest song to be one of your favorites. You know which song is my favorite, remember when I coerced you into making a video, many moons ago?

That IS a good song. Nice how you put the lyrics out there front and center so they pound you on the head. You put a lot of effort into these videos, don't you?
