Brody Dalle is awesome.She is Brody Dalle, the Distillers was one thing, Spinnerette is another, both are brilliant music. Not the only music in the world or even the only music in the genre, but some of the best. Where does the limited music appreciation come from with some of you idiots? This is great music, so is Bat for Lashes, Metric, Elastica, Babes in Toyland, Dum Dum Girls, Led Zeppelin, Ten Years After, B52's, JJ Cale, why limit your brain with only this or only that? Unless it is already a limited brain of course.

At first I knew nothing of Ms Dalle, until seeing Ghetto Love promoted on a disgustingly mainstream Vevo Youtube ad. Another talentless teenie-bopper quick-sale I thought, cosmetically marketable junk. But for some reason I decided to press play anyway and a musical composition unlike any I've heard in recent years opened the door to a surprising new influence in my own playing as well as some new frequent favorites in my personal music collection.

I freakin hate pop music, but oddly I find the quality of Spinnerette compositions (without the burden of preconceived notions) deeply satisfying and dark, craftily constructed for years of enjoyable repeated listening. Because of that experience, I highly anticipated discovering the Distillers. But what I found instead was a bunch of boring bad noise in the vague flavor of mainstream punk.

being a dad of 3 kids myself, I fully understand why Brody made some career changes ! However ..... that doesn't mean I have to like these changes. I PREFER THE SOUND OF THE DISTILLERS........that is MY OPINION and if you ton't like it........well....... that s your problem then :-)

The Distillers really rocked, while Spinnerette is more poppy. You like the poppy thing ? OK for me, but I prefer The Distillers.. however you want to call us.."HARDCORE PUNKS" or not.... I am a 45 year old 'ugh ..hardcore punk" as you want to stigmatise me, but, my 14 yo son also prefers The Distillers.....
