I believe he played this because Syd had recently passed away. Pearl Jam played "Interstellar Overdrive" around the same time...and I heard the Chili Peppers played a Syd era Pink Floyd track also.

I like Barret and Cornell. I think he does alright. But c'mon the original is pretty hard on the ears. REM do a great version.

@brightphoebus i'm a ridiculous floyd fan (won't even begin to go into detail, i'll never stop xD), the original barrett recording of this song is much less than perfect. syd's style is very free and even at times sloppy. i think it's just epic that cornell pulled this guy out. what a tribute!
