I agree with Nd179: Michael Bland is the best drummer they have ever had. I just saw them July 3rd at the Surf Ballroom with Michael on drums & Tommy Stinson on bass. They were awesome! They even played a little longer because the opening band did not show up. Great show.

I hear that. But I think the musical change had much more to do with the guys getting older. Horse is my favorite album but the transition from that to each album that followed in the 90's seems pretty natural to me. I imagine they'd have gone that route with or without Grant. That's why I think people make a bigger deal out of Grant leaving than it really was.

The whole thing with Grant leaving is overblown. Really how many songs did he write? That's what I figured. he was good but I highly doubt the last time Soul Asylum rocked was way back in 1993-1994. That's just crazy talk. I mean just look at their footage from Lima, Peru just a few weeks ago and tell me that doesn't rock.

Dave knows which camera to look at. he looks at them all haha. He's alwasy been liek that. It'd be lame if he starred stright ahead.

I quite agree. It's hard to retain their status when they keep on changing drummers - drummers that are too much "studio musicians". However, if they didn't replace Grant... Well, just look at those older SA interviews - looks like tension is already building between him and Dave.
