Series 2 Episode 1 - 9/10/77

The late Factory Records founder and TV journalist Tony Wilson interviews the punk poet John Cooper Clarke on his music show So It Goes.

Struggling to think of a gig in the late 70's early 80's in Manchester when JCC wasn't on the bill, Standout's my 18 th Birthday at the Ritz with Magazine ( and my shock at Howard with a synth and as I later found out Stephen Morrisey as singer with the Nosebleeds) and secondly the Free Trade Hall double header with Pauline Murray with the Invisible Girls for both acts, JCC is to me like John Betjamins evil twin, turning safe Middle class suburban Britain on it's head.

The Daily Express must have been exactly the same in 1977 as it is now.

Roadrunner by Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers. Class tune. Pistols did a good cover. Or bad cover, depending on what you look for in a song.
