"Shinin'" (the instrumental intro sampling Graham Central Station's "The Jam") should have been a song with lyrics.

It's very disappointing to know only a quite sum of people know and love this album. Fuck it though. Least the few us appreciate hip-hop for what it is back in it's prime.

Realness. Nuff said. When this album came out, it wasn't even considered slamming. That's how many classics were out already before it! Cats don't know how real that time was.

every old school hip hop video is filled with comments like "man, hip hop just aint the same as it used to be. hip hop will never be the same". it's funny to me, because 20 years from now, all the underground hip-hop artists that we refuse to see today because we're too fucking stuck living in the past will gain just as much recognition and respect as the golden era is receiving from us right now. and us cats 20 years from now probably won't listen to anything released after 2030 neither

"Pressure be building in my mind sometimes in ways that have me counting the many reasons why crime pays" That line is fucking epic, gets me every time how smooth that shit is. You dont hear shit like that anymore, that beatminers sound is timeless

(sic) "... lost TO swag".

And what I'm saying is that it's not elementary. In fact, it's extremely sophisticated. That said, it's gone now. Yeah, there are some outliers but that's not the point. The essential part of what hip hop is has been lost "swag".

What I'm saying is that the material being released on record labels is not the be-all, end-all of Hip Hop culture and that even if pop artists like ymcmb are making records there will always be people out there living Hip Hop. On the other hand I understand that the true essence of Hip Hop may be missing from your heart and I agree, even though Hip Hop still is, it isn't what it used to be. I realise that Hip Hop has many elements. Peace.

If you think that hip hop is restricted to a DJ, a b-boy & a rapper, you really don't know what hip hop is. Hip hop is an artistic expression of a modal frame of existence within a larger continuum. Having a picture of a housing project where hip was supposedly born (it wasn't) doesn't make you hip hop. It makes your a person of limited information.

Hip Hop is always at home... on the street MC'ing, Breaking and DJing no matter what is being released.

I smoke a little bud to get my head right and then put this shit on. At 0:42 when that piano sample kicks in I'm right back in 1995, RIGHT THE FUCK BACK!!! Crazy memories. Real hip-hop right here!!

Peep it and it's good! Real good! Why is this tape not blown up in the hip-hop world? Radio? No hit song? Big record companies shunt talent like this all the time. It's crazy the game now in days! This should be what all new artist should aspire for!
