Hold silent

You were my violence stuck

In my life

Just for the moment

And let me under you

So you can die

I was alive

I was alive

In my body

You'll never find me

You'll never pull me out

In my body

The lonely creatures

The lonely creatures scream

June's offcast

Left hiding, I form the screams

Burned alive

Wasted sunsets

Haunting my torment

Right through my clothes

In my body

You'll never find me

You'll never pull me out

I was alive

I was alive

In my body

You'll never find me

You'll never pull me out

In my body

The lonely creatures

The lonely creatures scream

In my body

In my body

In my body, yeah

In my body

In my body

In my body, yeah

In my body

In my body

In my body, yeah

I'm sorry for sounding self indulgent and I realize this song has nothing to do with me and is not about me.I'm 37 years old and when I was 19 I had an massive near fatal skateboard accident which changed my whole life and who I was and who I am. I was in a coma for 2months and in hospital for an year and a half. I now have an acquired brain injury, epilepsy and an whole host of other things which have changed who I was and my capabilities as a person. When the music changes and he sings "I was alive" is difficult hear. Even though once again to be clear I realize this song is not about me. It still resonates however.

This song is genious. Btw: Long time 90's fan here; every album including pisces iscariot, and Corgan solo. Epic wins here.

Man, you could just as easily imagine Robert Smith singing this in The Cure's early goth heydays.

Am I the only one who thinks if they ever remade Labyrinth, this type of song should be it and WPC should be the new Goblin King? hahah

funny how everyone seems to appreciate this and are refering to it as the good old pumpkins... At the time it came out, most were like " what the hell is this shit?!" I really like this song but i remembre i was very disappointed with Machina 2. I guess there were much too problems for the band to be able to concentrate on just making music.

This particular song by The Smashing Pumpkins, comes from an era that I relate to very well. The music they make now, has very epic vibrations in it. Yet with a sharper and more jagged edge. I only hope they don't forget the Dream Pop time period they are very much a part of. I would like to hear Smashing Pumpkins of the 2014 and beyond, make a return to their high potential at Shoegazing.

This era of the band was the pinnacle of their creative writing. When they called it quits after Machina, I felt they ended on top of their game. I guess that's why I always felt they took a step back when Billy and Jimmy released Zeitgeist in 2007. The album didn't feel like the next level to the direction their music was going in 2000.
