"I'd like to buy the world a Coke" was a lyric of an old Hillside Singers tune from the 60s that became a big radio hit after heavy TV AirPlay as a commercial for Coca Cola. Search for it on YouTube. I'm guessing the 60s retro-styled Walking On The Sun is referencing this and the hippie styled singers in the commercial and what the era stood for... and, yes, there was a little drug use in the 60s... but two big thumbs up for Smash Mouth and their musicianship. Only really good musicians can get

@EternityintheRain12 All music, ever, is about drugs, sex, and money. That's kind of a silly thing to say.

I like and miss the 90's too. However music is sort of going back to that kind of energy. Music that Im seeing on TV these days aren't so bad! A lot of comebacks too.

@EternityintheRain12 Hhonostly drugs was a much larger theme in the 80s and 90s, i mean Greendays name comes from a drug reference to marajuna. Alot of other 90s bands were big on drugs and sex, like rhcp. Now most new rock bands are weak alternative girly rock, or if you were thinking of the music on the radio that has been inccorectly defined as "hip-hop", all of those "songs" are only about sex, clubs, and alchohal. My point being that all decades of music have their poisons, its not new.

90'S!!!! I am 13, and after my 20 year old brother show'd me how cool the 90's were, I fell in love. Please bring good music back for my generations sake! I know my gernation is gunna be prolly the most badly influenced gernation and we all become jerks, but dont let that happen! Keep disliking usher, lady gaga, and most of all, justin bieber. PLEASE!!

@AmericanEvita I was a teemager, age 16 in 1968, growing up to 60's music, now that was a laid back time.....we had no cell phones, no computers, no I-pod's, gas was 55 cents per gallon and when you went to the stores you left your key's in the car.......and never locked your house, yes, life was very different than it was in the 90's or today's standard. But don't get me wrong, I like Smash Mouth since they remind me a little of the 60's with their style and the way they play music.....

@EternityintheRain12 I'm exactly the same. While SOME of the music nowadays is good, the music from the 90s was the best.

Haha, the lyrics of the song are EXACTLY about how each generation gets nostalgic about the last, and thinks the current world has gone to pot. They talk about the 60's ideals of peace and love vs the hippie movement that came out of it. Pretty deep song under the surface.
