That is not true.SLASH wanted GnR to remain on their apettite songs,running bad ass riffs,raw in the face music,complex rythm parts etc.Axl just wanted to do more ,to bring a revolution in the rock scene with songs such as estranged and november rain.This difference can be seen in both Axl's and SLASH's new albums.They were both just to good in diferrent things to be on the same band

He didn't try run things. Axl was bringing things in that Slash just didn't agree with i.e. Synth's and Keyboards and eventually he had enough and thought it was not worth it. He says himself in his auto-bio "Nobody is to blame for the demise of GnR but GnR."
