It was created by VINCE CLARKE, one of the geniuses and pioneers of electronic, new wave, and dance music. He was the keyboard player of DEPECHE MODE in their first album, but left after that. He formed the band Yaz (Yazoo in Europe) and this is one of their greatest contributions to dance and electronic music. The singer is Alison Moyet, one of the best singers of the 80s!
